Best Friends Forever

Just out of curiosity, I asked Katie, who is your best friend?

She said "Carter. Carter is my best friend. He's my brother and my best friend and I love him!"

Summer has started for the Yu Family. We just recently took the kids to the pool to swim. Carter is really enjoying it

Wild weekend...but first

Congratulations to Katie, for moving up to extended day. Katie will be in the equivalent of kindergarten this coming school year. She is showing off her pin, which recognizes her role as a leader in her clas next year.

On to the weekend, it was definitely an auspicious start. Almond Tofu expert ran into some stiff resistance with some of the ingredients, and I mean stiff

Not to worry for those who consumed almond tofu at the picnic, the situation was rectified right away.

Speaking of picnics, we spent Sunday afternoon at the Kids Together park in Cary with our Church fellowship group. It was great fun for the kids and just a great time of relaxation and hanging out amongst the grown ups. Although...I do feel sorry for the owner of the shoes below

More than Building a Bear

Katie and I had our long awaited daddy/daughter day. We got slightly derailed from our original plan of going to see the movie Up, but I think this will more than make up for it. And for me its more than just building a bear, its really about building a relationship with my kids that will last a life time. Now, if I could just get Carter to detach from Jenny every once in a while.

We'll miss you, Sweetie

Thursday night, we said our final goodbyes to our beloved companion and loyal friend. Sweetie believed that she was a person and we were all happy to oblige and treat her like one. Her favorite part of the day was when she'd get an asian pear to eat. That was her favorite food (although, she was happy to consume anything else that fell her way). You could not ask for a more loving dog, who was never aggressive to anyone but loved to be pampered and kissed. I will miss all the tricks you could do, but clearly you were far more intelligent that you let on for you just wanted to make us happy. I know that you lived a full life and that you were happy with all of us - now its time for you to take rest and eat all the asian pears that you can.

Copy Cat Carter

Its June 2nd already - Carter is going to turn 2 in about 2 months, hard to imagine just how much he's grown in the past few months. His latest thing is copying everything big sister Katie is doing, from climbing on the furniture, to jumping off said furniture, from coloring and drawing (which up to now he has shown zilch interest), to running around the house at wrap speed.

He is so helpful around the house and he just loves to tag along every where we go. His most favorite activity now though, is playing outside and driving his battery powered firetruck(a mini power wheels). I am so amazed by how well he can pilot the firetruck from its parked position in the garage, he can maneuver in between our cars then out into the driveway and down the street without hitting anything....amazing(this will prove useful when the 18 or so kids that live on our street start getting real cars-no hitting parked cars like his mama!)

We draw ever closer to an end to Katie's second year at Follow the Child and Jenny and I are looking forward to Katie's Year End Conference. We are so proud of how much she's accomplished and despite all the attention lavished on Carter, she has truly blossomed into a big girl. Its made the sacrifice to send her to private school all worth it
